Reporting reactions
An adverse event following immunization is any health concern that happens after a vaccine. Most are mild and temporary. Many are not caused by the vaccine itself, but how your body is using the vaccine to learn to protect itself.
Health care providers who administer vaccines are required by law to report an adverse event following immunization. Parents and legal guardians should also report an adverse event following immunization to the health care provider who gave their child the vaccine. Public Health can help with this process.
If you or your child are experiencing a reaction, contact your health care provider for assessment. If you have questions, call Public Health to speak with a vaccine nurse at 905-688-8248 ext. 7425.
