Fully accredited

Seniors Services long-term care homes voluntarily participate in the accreditation program with Accreditation Canada because we are committed to providing the highest quality of care and services for our residents.

This process assesses our services against standards of excellence by external surveyors, identifying what is being done well and what needs to be improved. This helps us determine where to focus our quality improvement efforts.

Achievement

  • All our homes are fully accredited
  • Regular external assessments
  • Continuous quality improvement

Standards and compliance

Our homes follow standards set by the Ministry of Long-Term Care, and other provincial and federal acts and regulations. This ensures the homes are providing quality care in safe environments.

Compliance reports are posted at each of our homes and available through the Ministry's public database, ensuring full transparency and accountability.

Our quality initiatives

The Local Health System Integration Act, 2006 requires that the Local Health Integration Network and the Health Service Provider enter into a Multi-Sector Service Accountability Agreement and Long-term Care Home Service Accountability Agreement.

This agreement supports a collaborative relationship to improve the health of Ontarians and create a health care system that is:

  • Person-centered
  • Accountable
  • Transparent
  • Evidence-based

The Long-Term Care Home Service Accountability Agreement is available upon request.

We invest in our staff through comprehensive training programs to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to provide excellent care.

Seniors Services long-term care homes have trained staff to become Best Practice Champions and continue to provide regular education and training throughout the year to support evidence-based practice in everyday resident care.

Our commitment to education extends beyond nursing staff to include all team members who interact with residents and families.

Beginning in 2022, Seniors Services long-term care homes partnered with PointClickCare and the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario to help develop standardized assessments and clinical pathways now used across long-term care homes in Ontario, including admissions, delirium screening and resident and family-centred care.

Seniors Services long-term care homes also continues its partnership with Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario through Best Practice Guideline implementation and ongoing staff education to strengthen evidence-based practice across all homes.

In partnership with Institute of Safe Medication Practices Canada, we support medication safety initiatives, including work related to the appropriate use of antipsychotics and safer medication practices in long-term care.

Quality Improvement Plans are submitted to Health Quality Ontario every year by each of our long-term care homes.

A Quality Improvement Plan is a formal, documented set of organizational priority indicators focused on improvement objectives set out by the Ministry of Long-Term Care. It is our commitment to residents, staff and the community to improve quality of care through focused targets and actions.

Quality Improvement Plans are available at Health Quality Ontario and are posted at each of the homes.
