Strengthening and resurfacing program

Niagara Region maintains 1,738 kilometres of roadway across Niagara.

Each year, we inspect one-third of the Regional road network and carry out maintenance work to keep our roads in good condition. The strengthening and resurfacing program repairs and repaves road sections before they deteriorate further.

What the program includes

  • Replacing drainage pipes (culverts)
  • Removing and recycling the top layer of asphalt
  • Repairing cracks and replacing damaged curbs
  • Repaving and re-marking lanes
  • Waterproofing existing culverts

Construction is expected to take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Night work may take place when necessary. All work is weather dependent. During construction, expect single-lane closures and longer than normal wait times. Avoid the area if possible.
