Load restrictions

Each spring, Niagara Region applies seasonal load restrictions to certain Regional roads. These restrictions protect road surfaces during the spring thaw, when freezing and thawing cycles make road bases most vulnerable to damage from heavy vehicles.

Load restrictions are in effect annually from March 1 to April 30 on the roads listed. During this period, the maximum allowable weight is five tonnes per axle.
