Notice to residents for Ontario Street sanitary sewer and watermain upgrades in Lincoln

Niagara Region is upgrading the existing sanitary sewers and watermains located 1.7 kilometres along Ontario Street between King Street and Greenlane in Lincoln. The upgrades will provide safe and reliable drinking water. Upgrades will also address aging infrastructure to meet future growth demands for the area.

The sanitary main and watermain must be replaced to avoid future problems that would affect the community. Visit the Ontario Street Sanitary and Watermain Replacement project page for more information.

Construction will start in December 2023 and is expected to last 16 months. All activities are limited to within Regional property and right‑of-way easements.

Major construction activities will include:
  • Trench excavation and restoration of roadway, sidewalks and boulevards. This is to install the sewer main, watermain, associated water services and sewer laterals to the property line.
  • Dewatering
  • Temporary watermain and sanitary bypasses
  • New watermain and sanitary piping
  • Traffic staging, including lane closures

This work involves heavy equipment and open trenches. Keep away from all fenced areas and follow the posted safety signage. Always keep yourself and others a safe distance from all work areas.
