Notice of pre-construction: Wilhelm Road Bridge repairs in Port Colborne

Niagara Region will be completing repairs to the railway bridge on Wilhelm Road (Regional Road 98) about 400 metres south of Forks Road East in Port Colborne.

This work will be carried out on behalf of Niagara Region by a contractor. The contractor will be announced once the tendering phase is complete. Construction is expected to begin Aug. 4 and is anticipated to be completed by Oct. 13, weather permitting.

Every effort will be made to maintain access to neighbouring properties and minimize inconvenience for businesses, residents and pedestrians. The project inspector will be a representative of ELLIS Engineering Inc.

To protect construction workers and complete the work safely and cost-effectively, single-lane closures may be needed during the project. Traffic congestion may be unavoidable at times. Although the contractor is required to provide safe pedestrian access at all times, use caution when walking through the construction zone.

At the start of the project, construction inspectors will notify residents if any landscaping items on Regional property conflict with the proposed work, including trees, shrubs, hedges, fences, planters, statues and irrigation systems.
