Changes to fees at Regional disposal sites

​On Dec. 14, 2023, Niagara Regional Council approved a revised residential and commercial fee structure. This structure better reflects the true cost of managing certain material types at the Region's disposal sites. The following changes to the fee rates will take effect on Feb. 12, 2024:
Residential and commercial waste

Garbage, construction and demolition material (residential and commercial) ​$122.50 / tonne (51 kg and above) ​$125 / tonne (51 kg and above)
Shingles (residential and commercial) ​$80 / tonne ​$85 / tonne
Concrete and asphalt (residential and commercial) ​$25 / tonne ​$30 / tonne
Appliances containing CFCs (residential and commercial) ​$20 / unit ​$22 each
Mattress and box spring disposal (residential and commercial) ​- ​Disposal fee + $10 each
Leaf and yard waste (commercial) ​$70 / tonne ​$75 / tonne
Clean soil* (commercial) ​$30 / load ​$10 / tonne
 *Fort Erie - Bridge Street Waste and Recycling Drop-Off Depot does not accept clean or contaminated soil.
Residents are encouraged to separate all recyclable material to reduce waste going to landfill. See more information on these changes and other waste management services.
