Project overview

This project is for the rehabilitation of Glendale Avenue between the Welland Canal and Homer Road in St. Catharines. It includes the reconstruction and widening of the Glendale Avenue bridge over Seaway Haulage Road and the rehabilitation of the Glendale culverts conveying old Welland canal.

The scope of work includes:

  • Construction of a 3.5 metre wide asphalt off-road multi-use path along the south side of Glendale Avenue
  • New roadway lighting along the south side of Glendale Avenue to illuminate the roadway and path
  • Reconfiguration of the signalized intersection at General Motors for a protected pedestrian crossing

There will be access to businesses at all times. Regional traffic will stay open to through traffic. There will be temporary lane restrictions during construction that will cause delays. Drivers can avoid delays by using alternative routes.
