Council sets policies, directions and budgets to ensure long-term success and a high standard of living for the residents of Niagara. Regional Council meetings are held once a month.

Niagara Region's standing committees meet monthly to review matters within their particular mandate in order to make recommendations to be considered by Regional Council. These Committees meet the week prior to the Regional Council meeting.
