Project overview
The Beaverdams Sewage Pumping Station at 1678 Beaverdams Rd. in Thorold is owned and operated by Niagara Region. This station is within the service area of the Port Dalhousie Wastewater Treatment Plant. Niagara Region's 2017 Master Servicing Plan found the area should expect significant growth in the next 25 years.
The Beaverdams Sewage Pumping Station was built in 1993 and has been running for over 30 years without upgrades.
Construction will include a new 1.4 kilometre long forcemain. The forcemain will run from the pumping station along Collier Road South, Confederation Avenue to Richmond Street.
The work includes:
- Installing a new 1.4 kilometre forcemain
- Demolishing the existing building and installing a new covered shelter
- Replacing underground infrastructure
- Replacing pump and process piping and equipment
- Adding a new outdoor generator
- Upgrading electrical, instrumentation and communication systems
- Improving site work
Project update
Most of the construction will be at the sewage pumping station. The sanitary forcemain installation is complete. A section of topcoat asphalt remains along Richmond Street in Thorold and will be completed in spring 2026.
Construction at the station is expected to be completed in July 2026.
