Compost Event - May 5-10, 2025
From May 5 - 10, Niagara residents can collect twenty litre bags of compost (maximum three bags per household, while quantities last) during regular business hours.
In exchange for the compost, residents are asked to donate non-perishable food items or cash in support of one of these local charities:
- Fort Erie COPE (Community Outreach Program Erie)
- West Lincoln Community Care
- Salvation Army Thrift Store
- The HOPE Centre
- Goodwill Niagara
Expired food items are not accepted.
Compost pick-up locations
Compost is available to Niagara residents at the following locations. To avoid delays, plan your visit outside of the busiest days which are Monday, Tuesday and Saturday.
The attendants will use their discretion to determine the number of compost bags given to each resident in exchange for their donation to a maximum of three bags per vehicle per day. Residents must load compost into their own vehicle.

Bulk compost available May 17
As part of Niagara Falls' annual free tree giveaway and farmers' market opening event, bulk compost will also be offered on May 17 at the MacBain Community Centre.
While quantities last, Niagara residents can collect up to three containers of compost using their own containers and shovel.
