Notice of proposed amendment to the 2025 Niagara Regional General Tax Levy Budget

At its meeting to be held on May 22, Niagara Regional Council will be considering a budget amendment to use $162,600 from the Police Contingency Reserve fund as an in-year budget amendment to fund the secondment detective sergeant position that will become part of the Homeland Security Investigations Border Enforcement Security (BEST) Task Force.

The position will support the mandates of national and United States (U.S.) law enforcement partners to increase border security and enhance efforts in preventing criminality.

Approval of this amendment will not affect the Niagara Region General Tax Levy for 2025. As such, residents will not see a change associated with the Niagara Region’s portion of the municipal tax levy charged in 2025.
