Road closure information

For road closure information, visit road closures in Niagara or Municipal511.ca for real-time information on closures and construction updates. Municipal511 shares road information that connects to Google Maps and Waze. It helps Niagara Region, local municipalities and the Ministry of Transportation better coordinate local construction projects to minimize traffic disruption.

Every effort will be made to keep access to nearby properties and limit disruption to businesses, residents and pedestrians. The Region’s construction inspector is Joseph Kantor and can be reached at 289-407-0581 for information or to discuss concerns.

There may be some inconvenience during construction. Driveway access could be affected at times. Advance notice will be given when possible. Staff from Niagara Region or contractors will contact you to discuss any impact to your driveway entrance.

To keep workers safe and complete the work in a cost-effective way, single-lane closures may be needed throughout the project. Traffic may be slower at times. The contractor must provide safe pedestrian access, but caution is advised when walking through the construction area.

At the start of the project, the Region’s inspector will let you know if any landscaping items such as trees, shrubs, fences, planters or irrigation systems on Region property are in conflict with the work. Property owners should remove or relocate these items before construction. Items not removed may be damaged, destroyed or removed during the work and will not be replaced.

If you have an irrigation system on Region property, you must mark the location using white spray paint or stakes within six metres of the road. Only marked systems damaged during construction will be repaired. Unmarked systems are the property owner’s responsibility if damaged.

Before construction, a representative from the contractor’s inspection firm OZA Inspections Ltd. will contact you to arrange an inspection of the inside and outside of your home or building. This is to determine and document any cracks or other damage that exists before work starts. This helps determine if any damage during construction is caused by the work. The representative will have identification for your review. It’s in your best interest to allow the inspection.
