Extension of road closure limits for Ontario Street (Regional Road 42) in St. Catharines

Ontario Street (Regional Road 42) from Linwell Road to Lakeport Road continues to be closed to through traffic. This closure was first put in place on Monday, Nov. 6.
 
Starting Monday, Jan. 29, Niagara Region is extending the northern closure limit, weather permitting. Ontario Street (Regional Road 42) will be closed between Linwell Road and Chapleau Gate with no access at Julianna Creek.
 
The road closure is to build new storm sewer outfalls and a retaining wall. The closure is part of the Ontario Street (Regional Road 42) reconstruction project / road widening works. It also includes replacing the watermain and storm sewer installation in the area.
 
Detour
 
  • Access northbound Ontario Street: Right on Linwell Road > Left on Lakeport Road
  • Access southbound Ontario Street: Right on Lakeport Road > Right on Linwell Road
New
 
Businesses and residents from Chapleau Gate (southbound) on Ontario Street will have two-way access up to the Julianna Creek area. There will be no access to cross at Julianna Creek.
 
Ongoing
 
Businesses and residents between #525 - #527 Ontario St. (one lane on the west side) will still have access up to the Julianna Creek area (northbound). There will be no access to cross at Julianna Creek (local access only).
 
Access to Regatta Drive and Leicester Court will be through Royal Henley Boulevard.
 
There will be access from Ontario Street to the following side streets: Jaycee Park, Chapleau Gate, Ziraldo Road, Lakehurst Drive, Sparkes Street and Philpark Road.
 
Businesses will remain open at all times. Emergency services will have access via the detour routes.
