Niagara Election Compliance Audit Committee
The local area municipalities in Niagara along with the District School Board of Niagara and Niagara Catholic District School Board are recruiting experienced professionals for appointment to the 2026 to 2030 Joint Election Compliance Audit Committee.
The committee is an independent, statutory body required under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. It is responsible for reviewing and making decisions on applications for municipal election campaign finance compliance audits and on reports from Municipal Clerks regarding apparent contraventions of prescribed contribution limits.
Applicants with a professional background in accounting, auditing, law, election administration or public administration are preferred.
Applicants should have:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of municipal elections, including campaign finance rules
- Proven analytical, decision-making and communication skills
- Experience working on committees, boards, adjudicative bodies, task forces or in similar settings
- Demonstrated knowledge of quasi-judicial proceedings
- Availability to attend meetings during daytime and evening hours
Applicants may not be a candidate, third party advertiser or contribute to or otherwise support an election campaign including providing professional advice for any candidate in the 2026 municipal election.
The committee’s term of office is four years, beginning in November 2026.
Successful applicants will receive a retainer of $350 for the four-year term, which will include participation in one mandatory training session and any preparation / review time required for meetings. Successful applicants will also receive $250 per meeting attended plus an additional $50 for each additional application or report being considered after the first at a meeting (plus mileage).
A letter of interest must be received by Friday, Sept. 11, 2026 at 4 p.m. Applicants may include a current resume with the letter of interest.
