Statement from Niagara’s Acting Regional Chair on flooding across the region

Niagara Region stands with affected residents and will be there throughout the recovery

Niagara’s Acting Regional Chair, Tom Insinna, issued the following statement regarding the devastating flooding across Niagara:

"Over the past two weeks, severe storms have flooded homes, damaged businesses, and turned lives upside down across Niagara.

To every resident who has lost cherished belongings, been displaced from their home or is facing the emotional and financial strain of rebuilding: we see you, we stand with you and we will not leave you to face this alone.

Regional and local infrastructure performed as designed, but no municipal system could have absorbed the extraordinary volume of rain that fell in such a short period.

We thank the Province of Ontario for stepping forward with urgently needed relief. Regional staff continue to work around the clock with our municipal partners to support affected residents, remove debris and help our communities recover.

The road ahead will be difficult, and recovery will take time. But Niagara is strong—and we will get through this together.

Debris and waste collection will continue over the coming weeks. We appreciate the community’s patience as crews work across the region, and we will be with you every step of the way.

For the latest updates in your community, visit the Niagara Region website or follow Niagara Region on social media."
