Freedom of Information Requests

As a member of the public, you have the right to request any information held in custody or the control of Niagara Region.

Open government and routine disclosure

We are committed to making information available online wherever possible. Before submitting a formal request, you may wish to contact the relevant program area, as some information can be provided directly. A formal Freedom of Information request is required for access to records that are not routinely available.

  1. Search the website to see if the information is already available
  2. Search Open Data to review any holdings which have already been published
  3. Contact the division - staff can often provide the information without a formal request

Application Fees / Completion Time

I understand that:

  • An application fee may be required when I submit my request, and that this fee cannot be waived
  • There may be additional fees applied for photocopying/staff time, and if the estimate is over $100, you will notify me ahead of time
  • My request will take up to 45 business days to process, and I will be notified if more time is required
