  Licence requirements

  • Two pieces of government issued identification. One piece of ID must be photo identification, such as an Ontario driver's licence, Canadian passport or Ontario photo card.
  • If born outside Canada, proof of eligibility to work in Canada, such as a Canadian passport, permanent resident card or valid work permit)
  • A colour photograph of yourself. Photo must have a blank background, taken straight on, with face and shoulders centered and squared to the camera in jpeg format. No glasses or hats. This photo will be used for your new or renewed licence.

  • If born outside of Canada, confirmation that applicant is legally entitled to work in Canada, such as a Canadian passport, permanent resident card, work permit (no social insurance cards)
  • Criminal record and judicial matters check obtained within 60 days
  • Colour photograph (headshot, blank background, no hats or glasses) taken within six months
  • Letter from employer confirming employment
