Residents and Family Councils

Residents Council

Each of the Region's long-term care homes has a Residents Council. The residents provide ideas on how to improve care and services within the home. They also give feedback on processes to support safe, resident-centered care.

Family Council

Family Councils are a group of family members or friends of residents who come together to discuss ideas, concerns and make recommendations for change that will enhance the quality of care and services for the residents within the home.

The council plays an important role for residents as they:

  • Assist families and provide information
  • Provide an opportunity for two-way communication with the home's administration
  • Work with administration to impact positive changes that will benefit all residents within the home
