These resources teach students about factors that affect their physical development and social-emotional development.

Grades 1-8: Health and Physical Education (2019)
- D1.5 identify factors that affect physical development, social-emotional development and the development of a healthy body image. This specific expectation is also connected to the social-emotional learning expectations A1.1 Emotions, 1.2 Coping, 1.3 Motivation and 1.5 Self.
- D3.3 describe how visible differences and invisible differences make each person unique and identify ways of showing respect for differences in others. This specific expectation is also connected to the social-emotional learning expectations A1.1 Emotions, 1.4 Relationships and 1.5 Self.

- Factors that affect physical and social-emotional development and a healthy body image (Ontario Physical and Health Education Association): In this lesson, students will learn about factors that affect their physical and social-emotional development, ways to develop a healthy body image and identify ways of showing respect for differences in others.
- Fictional versus real violence (Ontario Physical and Health Education Association): In this lesson, students will learn about how the portrayal of fictional violence in various media, both on and offline, can create an unrealistic view of the consequences of real violence. Students will also learn how choices and behaviours affect the social-emotional development of themselves and others.
- Healthy relationships and development (Ontario Physical and Health Education Association): In this lesson, students will learn about the characteristics of a healthy relationship and ways of overcoming challenges in a relationship. Students will learn to identify ways of showing respect for differences in others and to communicate consent in interactions with others. Students will also learn about factors that affect their social-emotional development.
