Emergency Management Program
Niagara Region’s Emergency Management Program oversees the Region’s efforts to prevent, prepare, mitigate, respond and recover from emergencies.
The team is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Region’s Emergency Management Program and Emergency Management Plan while fostering emergency preparedness partnerships at the local, municipal, provincial and cross border levels.
The program adheres to the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act. It requires that every municipality develop and implement an emergency management program that includes a:
- Emergency plan training program
- Exercise program
- Public education program
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment and Critical Infrastructure
- Any other element required by the standards for emergency management programs
