Regional Chair's Youth Advisory Panel

Making a difference in Niagara

The Youth Advisory Panel uses their passion, skill and talent to help build Niagara's future

Panel members provide recommendations, advice and information to the Regional Chair and staff on issues that affect Niagara teens.

Past initiatives

Since it's creation in 2021, members have provided input and advocated for Niagara's youth on such initiatives as:

  • Niagara Official Plan
  • Climate change
  • Community Safety and Well-Being Plan

Their input will help shape the future direction of our community.

What you'll do

As a member of the advisory panel, you will:

  • Provide a fresh perspective on Regional matters that affect you every day, such as the environment, public transportation, housing and homelessness, mental health and other issues that impact communities across Niagara
  • Give feedback and advice on Regional policies, programs and services that affect you and other young people in your community
  • Help identify gaps and barriers, and suggest ideas to increase participation in Regional programs and services
  • Promote engagement in local government

Membership and term

The panel is comprised of 12 teens, each with different backgrounds, experiences and viewpoints. The Regional Chair and one Regional Councillor volunteer representative also serve on the panel.

Panel members serve a one-year term, with an option to renew for a second year.
