How to Replace a Broken Green Bin or Kitchen Catcher

Bring your broken Green Bin or Kitchen Catcher to any of the Region's participating container distribution locations and we will replace it free-of-charge.

Steps to replace your broken curbside organics container

  1. Take your broken Green Bin or Kitchen Catcher to any of our participating container distribution locations
  2. Upon presenting the broken container, you will receive a new replacement container
  3. Most locations are not able to take back your broken container. You will be given a broken container sticker to put on your old container which shows your disposal options:
    • Drop off your broken container at one of Niagara Region's residential drop-off depots; or
    • Book a large item pick-up online or call your collection contractor to schedule the large item pick-up:
      • Residents in Fort Erie, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Port Colborne and Welland, call Miller Waste Systems at 1-833-621-0726
      • Residents in Grimsby, Lincoln, Pelham, Thorold, Wainfleet and West Lincoln, call GFL Environmental Inc. at 1-855-971-4550

Ensure the broken container label is visible on the container to make sure it is collected on your scheduled collection day.

As of Jan. 1, 2024, residents must contact the collection contractor designated for their city / town to purchase or get a replacement Blue or Grey Box. New homeowners and renters can obtain one free Blue Box and Grey Box if they don't have them already.
