Flow Monitoring and Data Management

The Environmental Technical Services (ETS) section of the Water & Wastewater Division of Public Works is dedicated to making a cleaner and safer environment for all people in Niagara Region. The four main areas of ETS form a cohesive environmental unit serving the residents of Niagara Region.

The Flow Monitoring team gathers sewage flow information within the Regions sanitary trunk network. The resulting data forms the foundation for in-depth flow analysis and system optimization. The Data Management team is responsible for the use and management of water and wastewater infrastructure information.

This effort is made to allow for continuous improvement of the level of service the systems provide while minimizing costs of construction and operation. To realize this system optimization, a number of innovative techniques and programs have been initiated.
