Adult Day Service provides a safe, secure atmosphere where older adults can socialize and engage in a variety of activities to help maintain physical, intellectual and social independence.

Nutritious, balanced lunches based on the Canada Food Guide are provided, and special dietary requirements can be accommodated.

The program serves medically stable older adults living at home.

Sample Activities

Playing Games Outside Participate in fun and stimulating activities:

  • Crafts
  • Bingo
  • Gardening
  • Reminiscence activities - using photos, videos, artifacts and stories to spark conversation and memories
  • Music programs
  • Pet visiting
  • Crossword and jigsaw puzzles
  • Travelogues - exploring world destinations through photos, videos, maps and discussion

Adult Day Service Locations

General services are available at the following locations:

  • Upper Canada Lodge, Niagara-on-the-Lake
  • Gilmore Lodge, Fort Erie
  • West Niagara Adult Day Service, Grimsby
  • Linhaven (Ontario Complex), St. Catharines
  • Northland Pointe, Port Colborne
  • Meadows of Dorchester, Niagara Falls (Monday - Saturday)

These locations offer the following specialized services for individuals:

  • Niagara Falls - specialized aphasia services every Thursday
  • The Woodlands of Sunset, Welland - French language services
  • Linhaven (Martindale Complex), St. Catharines - specialized dementia program

Fee

A daily user fee covers the cost of lunches, nourishment breaks, and program activities. Participants may be eligible for a reduced rate based on income.

Hours of Operation

Hours of operation vary by location, but are generally Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Transportation

Transportation is available for those who require it, however, self-transportation is encouraged.
