Did you know that prenatal/postpartum mood disorders are the most common complication for women in the first year after childbirth?!?! Any women (regardless of age/background) who is pregnant, had a baby within the past 12 months, miscarried, adopted or recently weaned a child from breastfeeding, can develop a prenatal/postpartum mood disorder.
This spring 2007 the Best Start Resource Centre launched a province-wide campaign to raise awareness about Prenatal/Postpartum Mood Disorders and the Niagara Region Public Health Department coordinated local initiatives in support of this campaign.
We want to thank all the women who submitted their 'Stories of Hope and Survival' as well as our community partners who attended the workshop at Club Italia on June 5th. For our community partners, please stay tuned for upcoming information on forming a Niagara Coalition to coordinate initiatives that support those suffering from Prenatal/Postpartum Mood Disorders in Niagara.
