Birth Control Options

Birth Control (contraception) lets you decide if and when you want to become pregnant and when used correctly, it is 99 per cent effective.

From daily, weekly, monthly, hormonal, and non-hormonal choices, there is a lot to think about when choosing birth control to best suit your lifestyle.

Getting Birth Control for a Low Price

If you have a family doctor but no health benefits, you can purchase birth control at a low price:

  • Have your doctor's office fax the Sexual Health Centre (closest to you) the birth control prescription or
  • Bring in the original birth control prescription - no appointment necessary (there should be no other medication on the prescription)

If you do not have a family doctor and would like to see one of our nurse practitioners for a prescription, call the Sexual Health Centre (closest to you) and make an appointment.

Emergency Contraception (Morning After Pill, Plan B)

Emergency contraception is available:

  • Over the counter at all pharmacies in Niagara
  • At our Sexual Health Centres for a low price, no appointment is necessary
