Sexual Orientation A term used to refer to a person's emotional, romantic and sexual attraction to individuals of a particular gender (male or female). Attraction can be towards people of the opposite gender (male or female) (Heterosexual), the same gender, (Homosexual) or people of both genders (Bisexual). Heterosexual or "straight" is used to refer to people who are physically and emotionally attracted to people of the opposite gender. Homosexual is a term used to refer to people who have romantic and/or sexual relationships with people of the same gender. These individuals prefer to be called gay (men) and lesbians (women). Bisexual is a term for people who are attracted physically and emotionally to people of both genders. |
Gender Identity is a person's sense of being male, female, both or neither. The gender in which they feel, does not necessarily match the gender they were born with. Transgendered is a term for someone whose gender identity differs from traditional gender roles. This term is often used to describe any people who have crossed gender roles in one way or another. Transexual is a term for people who feel that their gender differs from the one they are born with. Transexuals are driven to change their physical gender through medication, surgery and wearing gender specific clothing. |
