Prenatal to 5 Years - Guidance

Planning a pregnancy and being pregnant are exciting, but overwhelming times. You and your partner will have many questions. Remember, parenting is a learned skill. You are off to a great start!

During infancy and the early years, the most effective forms of discipline and guidance are limit-setting, redirection and distraction.  As an older baby starts to explore his/her world, they need limits and consistent, loving, adult supervision to keep them safe.  Although these years can be quite tiring for a parent, it is important to use discipline as an opportunity to teach and guide.
