Environmental Planning & Conservation

A healthy natural environment is fundamental to our health, our quality of life and our economic well-being. Niagara's distinctive character and appeal to residents and visitors alike lie, in part, in its rich natural heritage - Niagara Falls, the Escarpment, the Great Lakes and the forests and wetlands, such as Point Abino, Jordan Harbour and the Wainfleet Bog. Environmental Planning and Conservation involves finding a balance between the protection of our natural environmental and agricultural resources and development pressures.

Policies in the Regional Policy Plan, the Tree Conservation By-Law, information reports and the work of advisory committees provide insight into how our natural environment will be preserved for the enjoyment of future generations.
