Earth Week Activities

Monday, April 22

  • Environmental displays showcasing some of the ways Niagara Region and its partners are working to protect our environment will be hosted in the Campbell East entrance of Niagara Region Headquarters, 2201 St. David's Rd., Thorold, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Tuesday, April 23

  • Residents are invited to join Niagara Region staff in a litter clean-up at 2 p.m. at Regional headquarters. Residents are also encouraged to participate in litter clean-ups in their community.

    Bags and gloves are available by calling the Waste Info Line at 905-356-4141 or 1-800-594-5542, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday, April 24

  • Tours of the following waste management facilities will be offered to residents:

Thursday, April 25

  • A rain barrel sale will be held at Regional headquarters in Thorold in partnership with All proceeds from the sale benefit the United Way. Using a rain barrel is a great way to conserve water and preserve our natural environment.
  • Barrels cost $50 and must be pre-ordered. Pre-ordered rain barrels will be available for pickup on:

  • Blue and Grey Box swap: Residents will also be able to swap their broken or damaged Blue and Grey boxes for new ones, for free, at Niagara Region Headquarters from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Thursday, April 25 to Saturday, April 27

  • Humberstone Landfill Reusable Goods Drop-off: Drop off a reusable item at the new Reusable Goods Drop-off at the Humberstone Landfill Site and receive a free bag of compost (limit of one bag per household).
