Regional Councillor Barbara Greenwood is a high profile individual in the community and has contributed a great deal through her volunteer work in Niagara Falls and on Regional Council. A life-long resident of Niagara Falls, Councillor Greenwood has championed many causes, programs and events to improve the quality of life in Niagara.
Her community work includes: Boys and Girls Club of Niagara Foundation, as the vice-president and fund development chairperson; Boys and Girls Club of Niagara Volunteer of the Year 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009; Niagara Falls Rotary, as a Rotarian and recipient of the Paul Harris Award 2006; LPGA Tournament, Chairperson Security 2004; Misty Award for Hospitality 1999; and Ontario Scott Tournament of hearts, chairperson 1998. In addition, Councillor Greenwood has been a volunteer with the Air Cadets and Red Cross for 10 years.
From 2006 to 2010, she served Niagara Region through participation on several committees, including: Corporate and Human Resources; Council Organization Renewal; Public Health and Social Services; Niagara Watershed Plan of the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority; Smarter Niagara; and as the co-chair of the 40th Anniversary Planning Committee.
She is the first woman to be elected to Regional Council from Niagara Falls.
