Why this measurement is important
Completing more formal procurements would directly increase the following purposes, goals and objectives (a) to encourage competitive bidding; (b) to ensure objectivity and integrity in the Purchasing process; (c) to ensure fairness between bidders; (d) to maximize savings for taxpayers; (e) to the extent possible, to ensure openness, accountability and transparency while protecting the best interests of the Corporation and the taxpayers of The Regional Municipality of Niagara; And (f) to obtain the best value for the Corporation when procuring Goods and/or Services.
How we measure this data
This indicator is an aggregate of the annual number of tenders plus annual number of requests for proposal plus annual number of formal quotations (all three values, centrally awarded) during the fiscal year.
Reported annually as part of Municipal Benchmarking Network of Canada survey, with oversight from Niagara Region Procurement Services.
