Cooking Oil, Fat, Grease (Small Amounts)

Solidify or freeze it, then place it in the Green Bin. For cooking oil, grease or fat that does not easily solidify, absorb it with paper towel, newspaper, paper egg cartons, kitty litter or saw dust until all liquid has been absorbed. Alternatively, you may also take liquid cooking oil, grease and fats to one of our Oil Drop-off Depots. See link for Drop-off locations. Used cooking oil, grease or fat should never be poured down the sink, drain or toilet because it can negatively impact the system of sewer pipes in your home and neighbourhood and water treatment facilities.

Leaving grass clippings and thatch on the lawn adds moisture and nutrients to the soil. Grass clippings are not collected at the curb.
