Project: Community Mental Health for Acquired Brain Injury

This project will provide life skills development, social opportunities, and advocacy for individuals with acquired brain injury to reduce marginalization and improve mental health.

Community Care St. Catharines and Thorold

Project: Brushed Aside
Contract: $152,468

The Brushed Aside dental care access program provides access to dental care for adults in need of treatment. Community Care St. Catharines and Thorold will work with five identified program partners across Niagara.

Project: ID Replacement Costs
Contract: $73,524

Funding for ID clinics across Niagara to assist individuals with acquisition of Canadian identification. This project has a certified Commissioner of Oath, a provincial fee waiver and Social Insurance Number replacements are offered onsite monthly on. Individuals are offered safe storage of their identification

Employment Help Centre

Project: Niagara Community Garden Network - Garden Resource Program
Contract: $89,920

The Garden Network is a collective of non-profits offering garden programs that supply community access to affordable, healthy food, and the resources to grow skills and engage community. The Community Garden Resource Program as a hub expands outreach to the community, expanding the collective impact.

Gateway Residential and Community Support Services of Niagara Inc.

Project: Gateway Outreach Worker II
Contract: $71,101

The Outreach Worker will provide mobile services and supports to individuals at urgent risk of becoming homeless and those who are chronically or persistently homeless. The needs of the consumer are assessed and they will assist in acquiring housing and / or in addressing secondary concerns.

Heartland Forest Nature Experience

Project: Employ-Ability Skills for Adults with Disabilities
Contract: $69,982

Funding for a goal oriented work experience program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This program will provide employability skills along with the exploration of social procurement strategies.

Project: Eco Chic - 3Rs Boutique
Contract: $45,738

The Eco-Chic Project, 3R's Boutique will reduce waste by creating new products from up-cycled and re-purposed materials. These products are made by skilled newcomers and low-income women. This project provides resources, marketing and a platform to sell their products and provides them with a substantial income.

Niagara Furniture Bank

Project: Heat Treatment - Bed Bugs
Contract: $51,357

The "Heat Treatment" system will be introduced as a new way to combat bed bug infestations for agencies that operate housing / hostels. We will develop an educational component for families in partnership with Public Health and agencies will be able to apply for this treatment.

Advancing Crystal Beach

Project: Crystal Beach Community Market
Contract: $50,688

The Crystal Beach Community Market will provide opportunities for local food, arts and crafts and clothing vendors to generate income. Business development training for vendors in finance, sales and marketing will also be available.

The FORT

Project: The FORT - Connecting Youth
Contract: $26,346

The FORT's Connecting Youth project will provide the youth of Smithville and Caistor, and their families, with the only physical location where they will be able to receive free professional mental health counselling, participate in social programs, and get involved in their community.

Grimsby Benevolent Fund

Project: Rental Assistance Service
Contract: $75,000

The Rental Assistance Service provides low-income households with assistance for monthly rent payments in the private market. The program reimburses part of the difference between 30 per cent of the total income and the rent. The other aspect of the program is providing one time rent assistance for those who might otherwise be evicted.

Niagara-on-the-Lake

Community Care St. Catharines and Thorold

Project: Housing Worker
Contract: $27,916

The housing worker will support low income, vulnerable individuals to find secure, safe, affordable housing within St. Catharines, Thorold and Niagara-on-the-Lake. This will be done by working with landlords and community partners and will include advocacy and appropriate referrals to services.

Project SHARE of Niagara Falls Inc.

Project: Outreach / Trustee Support
Contract: $86,845

The outreach / trustee support worker will meet new and existing landlords to increase the number of available rental units. The worker will also partner with Community Care's trustee program, offering support to increase housing and financial stability to clients.

Project: Financial Literacy Program
Contract: $38,055

This project will further the goals of Niagara Region's Housing and Homelessness Action Plan by building on the success of the Housing Stability program. Individuals will be introduced to budgeting and financial management programs.

The RAFT

Project: RAFT Niagara Regional Housing Summer Camp
Contract: $29,964

A daily summer camp program will be provided in Niagara Region Housing priority neighbourhoods. The programs will offer active games, art, educational activities, a community garden, field trips, special events and cultural learning opportunities. The camp will reduce isolation, provide constructive activities and child minding support for working parents.

St. Catharines / Thorold

Project: Restoring Healthy Smiles

Funding will be used to hire a volunteer dental coordinator to assist with recruiting, orientating and training dental assistants, hygienists and dentists. The goal is to reduce barriers for low-income individuals to access affordable dental care.

Southridge Shelter

Project: Southridge Jam Company
Contract: $54,680

The Southridge Jam Company is a social enterprise that produces and sells artisan small-batch jams and jellies. The primary jam makers are individuals who are transitioning from homelessness and who gain purpose, stability and positive momentum from participation in the program's job and life skills training.

Start Me Up Niagara

Project: Queenston Bike Collaborative
Contract: $23,496

Queenston Bike Collaborative is a bicycle refurbishment and retail operation, designed to train and employ people living with mental illness and other disabilities, as well as other persons who have been excluded from the traditional workforce.

Project: Art Me Uprising - SMUN Community Arts Hub
Contract: $33,650

Art Me Uprising - SMUN Community Arts Hub provides opportunities by and for marginalized people in visual arts, drama, poetry, music, film production, and storytelling. Based in the Queenston neighborhood, participants are provided with artistic tools and resources and an outlet to use their creativity to tell stories about their lived reality.

Project: Income Matters Community Collaborative
Contract: $24,046

Income Matters helps participants gain / re-gain the confidence and skills needed to successfully manage their finances through income tax filings, access to benefits and tax credits, help with appointments, budgeting, and improved relationships with creditable banks and lenders.

Project: Community Hub Coordinator

Hiring of a community hub coordinator who will engage with identified services and service providers to encourage them to become part of the Hope Centre Hub and provide their services to our clients under one roof. The coordinator will also schedule hub rentals, catering, and promote / market the programming and services on site.
