Regional Rd. 87 Reconstruction
All Niagara Region projects

About the Project

We're planning the reconstruction of Main Street, Lock Street and Lakeport Road (Regional Road 87) between Verdun Avenue and Ontario Street (Regional Road 42) in St. Catharines.

Regional Road 87 is within the Port Dalhousie district and functions as a two-lane arterial road providing access to residential and commercial land uses.

A Municipal Class Environmental Assessment has been initiated to identify the needs and opportunities for improvements within the project limits.

The study will develop and evaluate improvement alternatives which will consider:

  • Components of our Transportation Master Plan, including Active Transportation and Complete Streets
  • Transit requirements
  • Roadway widening
  • Safety and operational improvements
  • Heritage requirements

The environmental assessment will identify a preferred solution which will become the basis of the detailed design.
