Regional Rd. 87 Reconstruction

About the Project

We're planning the reconstruction of Regional Rd. 87 (Main St., Lock St. and Lakeport Rd.) between Verdun Ave. and Regional Rd. 42 (Ontario St.) in St. Catharines.

Regional Rd. 87 is within the Port Dalhousie district and functions as a two-lane arterial road providing access to residential and commercial land uses.

A Municipal Class Environmental Assessment has been initiated to identify the needs and opportunities for improvements within the project limits.

The study will develop and evaluate improvement alternatives which will consider:

  • Components of our Transportation Master Plan, including Active Transportation and Complete Streets
  • Transit requirements
  • Roadway widening
  • Safety and operational improvements
  • Heritage requirements

The environmental assessment will identify a preferred solution which will become the basis of the detailed design.
