Regional Rd. 529 Reconstruction
All Niagara Region projects

About the Project

Regional Rd. 529 (Effingham St.) is an important regional transportation corridor extending from Regional Rd. 29 (Webber Rd.) to River Rd. This provides an important link to the Niagara Central Dorothy Rungeling Airport within the Town of Pelham.

This section of roadway was identified as deficient in terms of road surface and substructure. The existing twin corrugated steel pipe cross culverts located approximately 400 m south of Regional Rd. 29 was identified for replacement within the Structure Rehabilitation Program.

A section of River Rd., approximately 50m west of Regional Rd. 529 has been showing signs of guiderail failures and pavement distress. The section of road impacted by the road failure is approximately 35m long. The Region has been maintaining this section of road and has completed some recent repairs.

Niagara Region intends to reconstruct this section of Regional Rd. 529 to eliminate these deficiencies along with replacement of existing cross culverts. We will also address the ongoing slope stability issues on River Rd.
