Grimsby Water Treatment Plant Expansion Environmental Assessment
All Niagara Region projects
About the project
Niagara Region has initiated a Schedule 'C' Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for the expansion of the Grimsby Water Treatment Plant. This expansion will service future growth. The water treatment plant is located at 320 North Service Rd. in Grimsby along Lake Ontario. It supplies water to Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln.
The study area is within Niagara Region property and surrounds the existing plant.
This study will find a preferred solution for the water treatment plant expansion. The expansion will give the distribution area increased water capacity up to 2051.
The preferred solution will provide support to:
- Service area growth while considering operational opportunities
- Help with possible future changes to regulatory and climatic water quality conditions
- Balance environmental, social, technical and economic needs
This project will also consider increasing the high lift pumping capacity to support the Grimsby Parkridge Reservoir.
This study will develop a problem and opportunity statement and a problem need. It will find different solutions and evaluate design concepts for the preferred solution. The environmental study report will document the preferred design concept when completed.
