Niagara's Employment Inventory

Niagara Region is conducting its third annual inventory of local employers. Employment inventories are considered a best practice in other GTA communities. It's a strategy Niagara is adopting to improve our global competitiveness.

Between May 7 and August 31, representatives from Niagara Region will be conducting in-person surveys with businesses across Niagara. Results from the survey will contribute to a comprehensive understanding of Niagara's current employment landscape by providing reliable data on employment numbers, types of employment and job / industry locations.

2018 Survey

Surveyors will conduct a brief face-to-face interview with business owners and collect the following information:

  • Physical business location
  • Business owner information
  • Business activity information
  • Employee and staffing attributes (employee counts, seasonal workers, shift work, general education levels)

Open Data

In the hands of the people, data has the potential to:

  • Spark discovery and innovation
  • Provide insights
  • Drive efficiencies

As an open organization, we give you access to the same data we collect and use in the community. Under this initiative, anyone can access, use, copy and re-distribute the data hosted on niagaraopendata.ca.

All data provided through the open data initiative is prepared in ways that maintain the personal anonymity of those the data is about. Information is protected under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. We encourage innovation and accountability by providing data back to communities it serves.
