Notice of Public Meeting - Specialized Transit Study

In an effort to better meet the transportation needs of regional and municipal specialized transit users, the Niagara Region has started a study to review these services throughout the region. The Niagara Region has hired consulting firm IBI Group to complete this study. 

The study is looking at the following issues:

  • A review of specialized transit service governance, needs, requirements, service policies and procedures
  • A review of the Niagara Specialized Transit’s (NST) current operations
  • The creation of options to best meet the community’s needs
  • The creation of a plan to fisically responsibily guide specialized transit service improvements over the next five years

The following topics will be discussed at the public meeting:

  • ​Thoughts on current municipal and regional specialized transit services
  • Future needs and expecations
  • Major areas of concern
  • Eligibility, registration and booking process
  • Scheduling
  • Transfers and fares
  • Cross-regional travel
  • On-time performance

Public Meeting

What you have to say is important in helping make improvements and plan for the future. A customer survey is also planned for the near future.

There will be two Public Meetings and we encourage you to attend one of the sessions. Each session will start with a 20 minute presentation followed by a discussion and question/answer period. Region staff will be available to answer your questions and hear your feedback. The Public Meetings will be held at the following time and place:

Date: Tuesday, April 23
Time: 5-7 p.m.
Location: Civic Square (in the Community Room), 60 East Main St., Welland

Date: Wednesday, April 24
Time: 5-7 p.m.
Location: St. Catharines Public Library, 54 Church St., St. Catharines
