Ribbon Cutting for Niagara Region’s Newest EarlyON Child and Family Centre

Niagara Region is making it easier for children and their families to access free high-quality early years programming and services with the launch of its newest EarlyON centre in Welland. Local families and community leaders celebrated the grand opening of the child and family centre located at the Seaway Mall, 800 Niagara St., Welland, over the weekend. The opening included a carnival-style event for families to enjoy that included learning-based games, face painting and special visits from mascots.

Darlene Edgar, Director of Children’s Services at Niagara Region, thanked staff and community partners for their hard work in getting the new facility ready. Children did the honours of cutting the ribbon to officially open the centre, alongside Christine Clark Lafleur, Executive Director of Port Cares the agency that will be operating the centre, and Mike Belcastro, President of Seaway Mall.

With EarlyON centres available to families across Niagara, residents do not have to venture far to benefit from the programs offered. EarlyON child and family centres provide free, high-quality drop-in programs for children from birth to six years of age, their parents and caregivers. The centres offer a welcoming and fun space for Niagara's children to learn, play, and connect with others. At the centre, children will enjoy games, books, songs, and nursery rhymes. The stimulating environment will encourage them to explore their creativity through art, music, and dance.
