Niagara Region is in receipt of the report of the Ontario Ombudsman issued today in respect of the Ombudsman’s investigation into the events of the December 7, 2017 council meeting.
Niagara Region cooperated fully in the Ombudsman’s investigation and intends to thoroughly review the final report, having regard to the Ombudsman’s opinions and recommendations contained therein. The corporation welcomes the input of the Ombudsman and is pleased to have already implemented many of the proposed recommendations.
Regional Council, in consultation with local media and other municipalities, has approved new policies and taken comprehensive steps to ensure that best practices are followed in respect of the conduct of council meetings.
