The Haj-Ahmad Family Foundation recognized at Canada Games Park
Niagara Region and partners are thrilled to announce The Haj-Ahmad Family Foundation as the newest naming sponsor at Canada Games Park. Headquartered in Thorold, The Haj-Ahmad Family Foundation is known for its generous contributions to the Niagara community contributing to the health and well-being of Niagara locals and visitors.
This latest announcement includes two key naming sponsorships for The Haj-Ahmad Family Foundation including the 200m suspended indoor track, which will now be known as the Haj-Ahmad Family Foundation Track. This track overlooks the multipurpose fieldhouse and is filled with a tremendous amount of natural light. The entire space will attract, inspire and motivate walkers and runners of all ages and abilities.
In addition to the 200m suspended indoor track, one of two entrances inside the Walker Sports & Abilities Centre will be now known as The Haj Ahmad Foundation Entrance. The north entrance to the Walker Sports & Abilities Centre provides easy and quick access for Brock University students, faculty, staff and individuals travelling from the centre by transit and bike. This entrance is located across the street from the main campus of Brock University.
From Aug. 6 to 21, 2022, the Canada Games will be held in Niagara. The Games are held every two years and are designed to bring together thousands of up-and-coming Canadian athletes who will compete for the right to be a national champion. Built as a result of Niagara hosting the 2022 Canada Summer Games, this new state-of-the-art facility called Canada Games Park was constructed as a lasting legacy for the Niagara community.
Canada Games Park is located at the corner of Merrittville Highway and Sir Isaac Brock Way in Thorold, Ontario, and will be the main venue for a majority of the competitions throughout the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games, which were delayed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following the 2022 Games, Canada Games Park will be a legacy for the community and provide opportunities for accessible recreation, cultural events and endless activities for decades to come.
Niagara Region, along with the City of St. Catharines, the City of Thorold and Brock University, formed a long-term agreement and a Consortium to manage and operate Canada Games Park following the 2022 Canada Summer Games. Additional funding for Canada Games Park was provided by Government of Canada and Government of Ontario.
