Becoming Age-friendly in Niagara

People of all ages in Niagara want to live purposeful lives, and be connected to their community. 2016 census data show that just over 21 per cent of Niagara's population is over 65 years of age; this will double by 2031. In Canada, there are now more people aged 65 and older than children under 14.

Since 2010, community partners in Niagara have worked together to strengthen Niagara as "a caring community that optimizes opportunities for overall well-being, to enhance quality of life as people age".

The network is raising awareness and encouraging local actions. This will help to implement the community's Niagara Aging Strategy and Action Plan (2015). Niagara Connects facilitates network members' collaborative work.
