Application for Sign Permit

This application is required for placing or erecting any sign notice or advertising device within 20m from centerline of any Regional road, including private property. Signs may require municipal approval in addition to this application.

Our setback requirements are as follows:

  • The sign must be one metre setback from the street line / Regional property line (the sign must be entirely on private property)
  • The sign must be five metres from a driveway and eight metres from an intersection
  • Billboard signs require a 10 metre setback from the street line / Regional property line

Fees

  • Sign permit fee: $88
  • Billboard permit fee: $640 + $88 (inspection fee)

Processing time is a minimum of 14 business days from the date of application.

Will the sign be:

Where is the proposed sign going to be located on the property in respect to the street/property line? Please provide a map or sketch of the proposed location and a dimensional drawing of the sign. Email scanned copies to roadpermits@niagararegion.ca specifying the permit type and applicant name in the subject line.

Supporting Documents

Attach any supporting documentation that is relevant. Only PDF, JPG, DOC(X), XLS(X), PNG, TXT files allowed only. No more than 5 MB file size, 10 MB total.

Terms and Conditions

  • All applicants must comply with Sign By-law and with applicable requirements of the area municipality in which the sign is located as well as other applicable provincial or federal statute or regulation. Issuance of a regional permit does not in any way relieve the applicant from the requirement to obtain such area municipality or other permits.
  • Plot plans and/or dimensional drawing must accompany this application
  • Applicant to ensure that the entire sign is placed on private property
