Volunteers play a vital role
in the delivery of our programs
in the community

All volunteer applications are reviewed with consideration of current volunteer opportunities. Depending on the position applied for, candidates may be required to complete a police check and / or participate in an interview.

Current Volunteer Positions

  • Communtiy Outreach

    Interested in volunteering with Public Health? Apply to become a Community Outreach Volunteer! As the Community Outreach Volunteer, you will increase public awareness and knowledge on a variety of health topics by attending community events across Niagara.

    • Gain experience in health promotion and community engagement
    • Make a positive impact on the health of Niagara residents and visitors
    • Meet people and have fun

    Qualifications

    • Interested in health promotion / learning about various public health topics
    • Comfortable engaging members of the public (all ages) to share key messages
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to read and speak fluent English
    • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
    • Be punctual and committed to attending events
    • Ability to travel to event locations across Niagara (providing your own transportation)
    • Ability to work as part of a team
    • Available to volunteer May to end of Aug. 2020, mostly weekends

    A contribution of 10 total hours from May to Aug. 2020 is required.

    Attendance at an in-person training session is mandatory on Thursday, May 7, 2020 from 5-8 p.m.

    Apply to be a Community Outreach Volunteer

  • Community Outreach Lead

    As the community outreach lead volunteer, you will Increase public awareness and knowledge on a variety of health topics, by attending community events across Niagara. You will be a leader to the community outreach volunteers and be responsible for the set up and take down of the community outreach booth. You will be a point of contact at event locations for volunteers and the general public. You will work closely with student coordinators to deliver sun safety presentations and engage children at day camps around the topic of sun safety.

    • Increase awareness / share knowledge on various health topics
    • Gain experience in health promotion and community engagement
    • Make a positive impact on the health of Niagara residents and visitors
    • Meet people and have fun

    Qualifications

    • Access to a vehicle with proper insurance and sufficient space for transporting materials to and from event locations
    • Previous volunteer experience
    • Experience in a leadership role
    • Interested in health promotion / learning about various public health topics
    • Comfortable engaging members of the public (all ages) to share key messages
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to read and speak fluent English
    • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
    • Be punctual and committed to attending events
    • Ability to travel to event locations across Niagara (providing your own transportation)
    • Ability to work as part of a team
    • Available to volunteer May to end of Aug. 2020, mostly weekends

    A contribution of 30 total hours from May to Aug. 2020 is required.

    Attendance at an in-person training session is mandatory on Thursday, May 7, 2020 from 5-8 p.m. as well as a one-hour mandatory training session with student coordinators and Public Health staff in June.
