The Physical Activity Advisor Program

The Physical Activity Advisors program encourages Niagara residents of all ages, abilities and incomes to make healthier lifestyle and active living choices by providing accurate and consistent education about physical activity and its benefits using a trained and supported volunteer base.

Encouraging an Active Niagara

Physical Activity Advisors provide general recommendations to Niagara Residents mainly based on Canada's Guide to Physical Activity.

This program includes:

  • Canada's Physical Activity Guide to Healthy Active Living and other resources
  • Presentations and displays
  • Connecting the community with available physical activities with little or no cost
  • Helping to increase the activity levels of each community

Physical Activity Advisors provide accurate and consistent information about physical activities and its benefits to communities through presentations and displays.

Presentation topics include:

  • Active Kids, Healthy Kids
  • Older Adults - Physical Activity for a Lifetime
  • Physical Activity at Work
  • Walking For Fun and Fitness
  • How To Start a Walking Group
  • Canada's Guide to Physical Activity
  • Physical Activity and Women

Physical Activity Advisors are available to participate in our community and provide presentations to a variety of audiences including:

  • Service clubs
  • Workplaces
  • Community groups
  • School councils
  • Older adult communities
  • Walking groups
  • Youth groups
  • Non-profit organizations

Physical Activity Advisors work with people of all ages.
