The Regional Municipality of Niagara has a temporary full-time Survey Technician Student position available from May to December 2019 (8 months) within the Transportation Services Division of the Public Works Department.
This is an excellent learning opportunity for a student enrolled in Civil Engineering, Geomatics or a related field of study.Although based out of the Niagara Region Headquarters, located in Thorold (near Brock University), the student will participate in a number of field assignments throughout the Niagara Region.Hours of work: 35 hours per weekHourly rate of pay: $19.67-22.95 per hourThe Surveys and Property Information Section is responsible to provide legal, engineering and asset surveys, property information and mapping services to many departments within the Region.The Survey Technician (student) will perform field assignments that will consist of surveys and spatial data collection anywhere within the Regional Municipality of Niagara.
The student will work as a member of a survey crew performing field related duties, working with the Survey and Mapping Analysts and the Project Surveyor.
Office assignments that will consist of processing field data, preparing survey sketches utilizing AutoCAD and GIS applications.
Other duties will consist of the preparation and maintenance of Property Information data sets as well as Regional Title Record Drawings also utilizing AutoCAD or GIS applications.
Office assignments may also include data conversion and research assignments.
In this position, the student will also receive an introduction to the workings of Regional Government.
