Email Brian Baty
Regional Councillor Brian Baty was first elected to Regional Council in 2003 and is now serving his fourth term.
Councillor Baty has served in major leadership roles in the region and the province through his career as an educator. He was a founding member of Ontario Principals' Council, and served on the provincial executive as the Provincial Councillor for the District School Board of Niagara. Councillor Baty was formerly the president of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation for District 7, Niagara South.
He retired in June 2003 as the principal of E. L. Crossley Secondary School in Pelham.
Councillor Baty is very active with the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Fonthill, serves on the Pelham Active Transportation Committee and writes a regular column for the local media on regional activities.
He was the founding chair of Port Cares and the Port Colborne/Wainfleet Healthy Lifestyles Coalition. The Councillor also served as a member of the Port Colborne/Wainfleet Chamber of Commerce as well as the Port Colborne/Wainfleet Community Futures Economic Development Corporation. He was named Honourary Citizen of Port Colborne in 1995.
