Niagara's local area municipalities, school boards and Niagara Region have formed a joint compliance audit committee. We are recruiting experienced professionals to form a roster of eligible members for appointment to the 2022 - 2026 Niagara Compliance Audit Committee.
The Municipal Elections Act, 1996 requires municipalities and school boards to establish a compliance audit committee to consider applications requesting a compliance audit of candidate or registered third party advertiser campaign finances.
The committee will also review any clerk's report where it appears a candidate or registered third party advertiser may have contravened the contribution limits. The committee may be required to appoint an auditor and determine if legal proceedings are required as a result of the auditor's report.

Applicants with a background in accounting, auditing, law, academics, election administration and / or public administration are preferred.
Certain individuals are ineligible to be appointed to the compliance committee, including:
Committee members will receive a retention honorarium of $350 (includes training and mileage), and $250 (plus mileage) per meeting.
